Preservation Nation

The Dr. Pound Farmstead is looking for fine folks who’d like to serve as a Greeter in our museum store. Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 12:00pm-3:00pm. Duties include directing visitors, collecting admissions and helping with general functions in our Pound Provisions store. Come meet other great people, serve your community and join our Preservation Nation today!

February’s Trail Blazers

New Interns: This month the Preservation Nation welcomes three local High School students serving Internships with the museum. Trinity Wade, Haley Jackson and Conner Hundl are all dedicated, self-driven individuals that pour into their community. We are so excited to have them join the team. Look out! Big things are coming from these fine young adults!

Sarah Says: Household & Gardening Tips

from a Pioneer Woman ~ Angel Cake

as Made by General Weisiger’s Mother  

7 egg whites

3/4 tsp cream of tartar

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup pastry flour

1-1/2 tsp baking powder

few grains salt

1 tsp vanilla ext.

Put egg whites in a mixing bowl and beat harshly with a wire beater until whites form. Add cream of tartar. Continue beating until whites stiffen. Gradually fold in sugar with a spatula. In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients 4 times. Fold into stiff egg whites. Lastly stir in vanilla. Bake in well-greased tube pan at 350 for 45-60 minutes

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH - LAUREN NEUGEBAUER

Lauren serves on the FPHF Board of Trustees and also heads the Collections Committee at the museum. She spends countless hours cataloging, organizing and caring for our artifacts. She also writes grants, serves as a docent every week, and is ready to roll up her sleeves on any project!
