Internship Description
The Dr. Pound Farmstead, a heritage museum, is looking for interns interested in hosting tourist groups through costumed interpretation and demonstration. In addition, to the weekly docent role, the interns will also organize and facilitate a summer program for children. The interns who fill this position should expect to learn the history of the establishment of Dripping Springs, museum operations, period artisanal skills, public relations and education. This is an excellent program for those considering employment in public relations, education, museum studies, history or theater.
It's essential that applicants to this position have strong communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.
Responsibilities
· Learn and memorize scripted tour materials encompassing historical information.
· Learn and demonstrate simple artisanal skills, such as candle dipping, butter-making, embroidery, etc.
· Provide costumed interpretive interactions with guests.
· Assist in a variety of maintenance and operational tasks – must be comfortable with some physical labor.
· Serve as lead educator and camp counselor for children’s daily program
· Organize and facilitate arts and crafts.
· Organize and facilitate games and activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
· Public Relations, Communications, Education, Museum studies, Theater or History major (for High School students, those interested in these areas)
· Strong verbal communication skills
· Ability to comfortably interact with the public
· Experience in child-care and/or education
· Minimum age requirement of 16
· Must be available the specified days and times (please see schedule)
· Completed Application and two letters of recommendation

Schedule and Duration
This is a seasonal position running from April through July (17 weeks). One weekly shift from 10:00am-3:00pm on Saturdays, with an additional 20 hours scheduled for the children’s summer program (dates for the camp are TBD). Total investment is 105 hours.

Marketing & Public Relations Internship
Internship Description
The Dr. Pound Farmstead, a heritage museum, seeks an intern who can participate in various stages of print and online marketing campaigns, including some social media. In addition, the intern will serve as a museum Greeter to process admissions and track incoming visitor data.
This intern should be prepared to work in a nonprofit environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing.
Responsibilities
· Greet museum visitors, take admission and handle sales transactions.
· Track tourism metrics.
· Assist in the creation of signage, circulars, mock ups, email campaigns, online promotion, etc.
· Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials
· Perform analysis of marketing and sales data
· Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials both on and offline
· Prepare presentations
· Monitor and post on blogs, forums, and social networks
· Assist with online outreach and promotion using Facebook and Instagram
· Optimize website and social media
· Enter contact information into contact management systems
· Maintain tracking report of public relations activity
Requirements and Qualifications
· Undergraduate student majoring in Sales, Marketing, or Advertising
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Extensive knowledge of social media
· Driven and hard-working
· Ability to take direction and multi-task
· Completion of application and two letters of recommendation
