Current Exhibits

We rotate our family collections exhibits every 6 months: at the beginning of April and the beginning of October. The beds have been used to display embroidered pillow cases, sleeping bonnets, hand stitched quilts and large US Flags. Body forms display children's, ladies', and menswear that was made and worn by the Pound family in the 1800's. A glass top case has been host to exhibits of: Unusual Textiles, 1800's School Books, Order of the Eastern Star items, WWI memorabilia, and Pound family Christmas ornaments. We also host a variety of traveling exhibits throughout the year. Check our calendar for special exhibit events.

Turn of the Century Fashions 1918-1930’s

Pretty in pink: these dresses were machine sewn by Pound descendants, Georgia, Mittie, or Marguerite. The black and white decorative top-stitching was all done by hand. The dropped waist dress style was popular throughout the 1920s and '30s.

The armoire contains a white, full length, night gown with a high neck and ruffle front. The toddler's blue dress was most likely worn by Marguerite's two girls in the mid 1920s. The pink overall shorts and blue corduroy cap are on loan. They date to around 1918. On display through June.

A Playful Past

On display through Spring 2020. This display from our private collection features toys, games and music from the turn of the century. Glimpse children’s entertainment before television and iPads!
